At one time I used to quite like playing on the Mr Green casino app, but that was back when it was privately owned. Unfortunately times have changed. The brand has been taken over by William Hill and things went downhill fast.

Our Rating: (1.5 / 5)

In this Mr Green app review, I’ll go through the various pros and cons of the app and the casino itself. I’ll also reveal some of the major issues that players have had in recent times, why they got a massive fine from the gambling commission, and explain why I can’t recommend them any more.

But I want to start on a more positive note, by showing some great alternative mobile casinos which I do recommend. So if you’re looking to get started quickly, you should try one of these instead.

Key Features

On the face of it, Mr Green has always looked to be a fairly good online casino in terms of the features they offer. The bonuses, choice of games and the performance of their apps are generally better than average.

The main issue now, for many players, is the way they do business.

Android Green Screen App

In February 2020, the Gambling Commission uncovered what they describe as “systematic failings” in the way Mr Green was operating and found them to be in breach of their license on two counts: failing to protect gambling addicts, and failing to perform proper checks on customers source of funds.

Mr Green accepted both these charges and agreed to pay a massive £3 MILLION fine, plus costs. Wow!

Safety and Security

Failure to protect problem gamblers is bad, but for me the second breach of their license condition is even worse. Licence condition 12.1.1 relates to the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

For me this is absolutely unacceptable and I can’t give my business to a company that seemingly cares so little about its potential role in serious organised crime, or terrorism.

In the interests of fairness I should point out that Mr Green do still have their UKGC license, and have promised to clean up their act. But like I keep saying, there’s plenty of choice out there when it comes to online casinos, so vote with your feet. As far as I’m concerned this is too serious for me to want to give them a second chance.

If you agree, then scroll back to the top and take a look at my suggestions at some of the alternative online casinos you can join. I’m going to continue the rest of the review impartially, but at least you know now why I don’t play here any more.

Mr Green Welcome Bonus

The welcome bonus at Mr Green is pretty reasonable. At the time of writing it was a £100 deposit bonus, and 20 free spins. This is well below what some independent casino sites are offering, but kind of average for those owned by larger firms.

So you probably wouldn’t join Mr Green just to get this bonus, since you can get much more elsewhere. But on the other hand, it’s not a bad deal if you were intending on joining anyway.

Mr Greeen Casino App

The Mr Green app is available on Android and iPhone. It can be downloaded from Google Play or App Store, or from the casino website itself.

The apps give access to the same game selection as the mobile optimised website, including the live dealer games. The design is OK, but it does tend to run quite slowly on older devices and in some cases can make the phone unusable.

I found it quite easy to use and unless you’re an absolute beginner you shouldn’t have too many problems navigating around and finding the games you’re looking for.

Software

The game titles are powered by a variety of providers, including WMS, Betsoft, Microgaming, Net Entertainment, IGT, Pragmatic Play, Yggdrasil, Evolution Gaming, Quickspin, Play’n Go, Felt, Playtech, and Push Gaming.

Choice Of Games

The game selection at Mr Green is actually pretty good. The range of slots on mobile includes Book of Dead, Wolf Gold Game of Thrones, Nitro Circus, Bonanza, and Starburst. They also have the usual table games and, as mentioned previously, live dealer games as well.

You’ll also find progressive jackpot slots including Mega Moolah, Mega Fortune, Arabian Nights, Hall of Gods, and a number of others.

In terms of variety I don’t have any complaints at all.

Banking – Deposit/Withdrawal Options

There are some issues with the withdrawals though – they charge fees. All withdrawals will be charged a $1 fee from Mr Green if they are below $100 and any amount over $100 will be charged a 1.5% fee.

This is pretty annoying and not really good enough in 2021 when the majority of other online casinos don’t charge you anything to withdraw your money.

There’s no excuse for charging withdrawal fees and this is a major black mark against Mr Green in my book.

Customer Service/Support

The mobile support options include email, phone, and live chat. Live chat is the best option as this will instantly connect you with a trained representative for immediate assistance.

Android Apps Store

You can also find some useful information on the provided FAQ page, which is a good place to start if you are just getting started with Mr Green.

Allowed Countries

The following countries are restricted, but everywhere else is currently accepted:

Belgium, China, Czech, Republic, Cypress, Denmark, Russia, Ukraine, UAE, USA

Verdict

There’s no way I’d be joining Mr Green these days. The only reason I kept my account open was because I had to in order to write this review. There are loads of better mobile casinos available, so I’d suggest picking one with a higher rating.
